Dear Kent Families:
It is hard to believe that the end of the 2007-2008 school year is here.
What an incredible year it has been!
For those who are moving on to new schools, I want to say good-bye and
best wishes. I feel confident that the staff of Kent gave the best that
they had to ensure the success of each and every child. Each student has
blessed our school in their own unique way. The Kent community has
embraced each child giving them the opportunity to flourish. It has been
a joy to watch the students grow and learn through the year.
"Our" children are happy, courteous, and well- rounded. They have a love
of learning and a love for their school. They are proud to be Kent
Cardinals and it is evident in all that they do!
Enjoy your summer break, and we will see you in August at
Meet-the-Teacher on Thursday, August 21st. Look for our summer mail out
for additional information.

Have A Wonderful Summer! |

Kent Cardinals,
The end of the year is here and every child seems to be ready for their
summer break. There are grandparents to visit, swim classes, archery
lessons, car trips to exciting places in the USA and maybe a plane ride
to another continent. Kent families (and some flat Stanleys) are on the
move.
After the first few weeks of summer, we all slow down and start really
relaxing and just enjoying the time with our children. Getting to talk
to them over a long breakfast might be when you realize that they've
made the transition from a 2nd grader to a 3rd grader. Your little one
is really a bigger one.
As a parent, we're all trying our best to nurture and provide for all of
our children's needs. It's such a big job and can hardly be done alone.
It truly does take a village.
Kent's PTA family wants to be part of that village to help provide
resources for you and your family. This summer, visit
www.pta.org and click on Parent
Resources. In this section, you will find chapters for Health and
Wellness, Media & Technologies, Child Safety, Student Achievement,
Bulletin Boards, Our Children's Magazine and PTA Store. If you are asked
for a Login & Password, refer to the back of your current PTA Membership
card. There is an excellent article on Health Lifestyles at Home and
School in addition to many others. You may also sign up to receive the
free e-newsletter entitled "The PTA Parent".
Have a wonderful summer with your children and extended family. We look
forward to seeing everyone on Thursday, August 21 for the Back-to-School
Sale and Meet the Teacher.

News from the Kent Library! |

It is an election year so we have tied that theme into our summer
reading. Students have been told that they must read everyday this
summer, so let's make it fun. Read everyday, record in the VOTE FOR
BOOKS log (in folders the last week of school) and return the log to the
library the first week of the new school year.
The directions are in the log. It is as easy as that! Students returning
completed logs the first week will be invited to our summer reading
celebration where there will be lots of fun and voting for favorite
books. So, VOTE FOR BOOKS by reading every day, visit your nearby public
library and have a great summer!
